Fintown-The Revenue Police and the Ribbonism Conspiracy - Doochary
Dr Mark McGovern, a Professor Emeritus at the Edge Hill University in England, will provide an informal talk at the Corkscrew Bar Lounge in Doochary from 7.30pm-9pm.
His talk, focusing on the The Revenue Police and the Ribbonism Conspiracy, is a follow-on from his original lecture in 2024.
Dr McGovern will consider the allegations of the Ribbonism Conspiracy, which dates from September 1842, and examines an inquiry opened in Letterkenny that tells us more broadly about the prevailing political anxiety and social and economic conditions and divisions of pre-famine Donegal.
