What you can do in Donegal during National Heritage Week on Wednesday August 20

Events taking place across Donegal from Gaoth Dobhair to Inishowen

Raphoe and Beltany Stone Circle

Explore 5,000 years of foundations from rituals to farming at Raphoe.

Raphoe Community in Action CLG hosts this dual-site walk where you can discover the ancient foundations of what became known as the Druid Circle, or the foundation of Rath Both, Raphoe, that grew around the early monastery and later Eunan’s Cathedral and into the Plantation Town that is Raphoe today.

Local historian and archaeologist, Mary Harte, will lead the tours.

Two meeting point locations for the talks will be at Beltany Car Park at 12pm, and then outside the Volt House, Raphoe, at 2pm, with both talks expected to last for 45 minutes.

For further information, contact Raphoe Community in Action CLG at raphoe.volthouse@gmail.com or call 074 9173966.
