Columba and Celine the picture of happiness on their wedding day 60 years ago this week.
In the week we celebrate St Valentine's Day, one Killybegs couple is celebrating their 60th or Diamond Wedding Anniversary.
Celine (81) and Columba (88) Cunningham from Killybegs were married on February 10, 1962.
Speaking to Donegal Live, their daughter, Una, said on the big day, Fr Colm O'Gallchoir PP, Killybegs, had visited Celine and Columba in their home, renewed their wedding vows and had given them a beautiful blessing.
Una added: "Mum and dad met when he was admitted to hospital in Donegal Town. He broke his arm coming off a sledge at the bottom of Kilcar brae. Mum nursed him. They got engaged when mum was 18 and were married in Stockwell in London two years later. They have two children, my sister Sarah and me. Both of us also went into nursing.
"When mum was 15, she was a member of a choir in Derry which toured America, The Little Gaelic Singers. They were on the Johnny Carson show the same night as Elvis. It was his first television appearance and was the one where he was shown from the waist up. Mum said he was a lovely boy and had lovely manners.
"Mum also knew Christine Keeler, she of the Profumo affair. Christine Keeler was in the bed next to mum when she was having her son and mum was having me. She said Christine Keeler was just lovely.
"Dad left school at 14 to do a carpentry apprenticeship in the Killybegs boatyard. He was hugely talented and could turn his hand to anything. He sees two of the other boys from the boatyard each week too. They are also in their late 80s," said Una.
Donegal Live would like to take this opportunity to wish Celine and Columba well on their 60th Wedding Anniversary and in the future.
