For the year ahead, Elaine Caffrey stays on as President and Kevin McFadden as Chairperson.
“Our committee are delighted to welcome new members, Ronan O’Donnell (Glenties/Dublin), Simon Cannon (Carrick/Dublin) and Donall McElwee (Fintown/Dublin),” they said. “Our new members will enable the association to strengthen and grow in the year ahead and into the future.
“The search is on for the next Donegal Person of the Year. The closing date for receipt of nominations is November 30. Any individual or any group may nominate a person – the main criteria being that the person nominated should be from Donegal and have made a significant contribution to the promotion of the county at local, national, or international level.
“Nominations may set out the reasons for the nomination and may include supporting documentation and endorsements from individuals and groups. You can make a nomination through our website, emailing info@donegalassociation.ie or by writing to The Donegal Association, 33 Upper Merrion Street, Dublin 2.”
The association thanked the media in Donegal for publicising events to wider audiences throughout the course of the year.
“The publicity they give in both promoting and attending our events is extremely important in keeping the Donegal community in touch with what is happening in our association,” they said. “The association also thanked Gabrielle McMonagle for all her support and promotional work over the years and for being so loyal in attending our events and functions. We wish her well and every success in her future endeavours.
“We also thank Amanda Gallagher and CJ Molloy for their support and dedication to our committee and we wish them well for the future. The committee passed sympathy to the family of Sean McElwee who was a great supporter of the Donegal Association over the years and was a Trustee up until this year. May he rest in peace.”
