In pictures: Brendan Vaughan's Donegal Hospice calendar makes it to No 10

Photographer Brendan ‘Tiny’ Vaughan from Carrigart, who has been living in London now for 41 years, came up with the idea of a fundraising calendar in 2011 when his own mother Mary neé Carr from Creeslough was in the hospice in Letterkenny

A charity calendar that has raised over €200,000 in recent years made its way as far as 10 Downing Street.

“I originally decided to just take a few photos so I could then show them to my mother in the hospice,” Brendan told DonegalLive from London. “The staff there was so caring to my mother and we decided we would do something to try and return the favour so decided to do a calendar.”

In recent weeks, Brendan has been around London promoting the 2024 Donegal Hospice Calendar taken at the Irish Embassy, as well as Downing Street, which is the home of Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak.

The 2024 Donegal Hospice Calendar is currently available from the Donegal Hospice and Centra stores in Carrigart, Dunfanaghy, Mickey Joes in Carrigart and at the Creeslough Shop.

Earlier this year, Brendan raffled off a vintage Massey Ferguson 135 tractor, which raised over  €40,000 for the voluntary services of Mevagh Fire Service, Critical Emergency Medical, SARDA and K9 Search and Rescue. Any additional money raised will go to the Northern Ireland Air Ambulance charity.
