Gallery and Results: Gallagher and Cunningham tops at Ballyshannon 5k

Conditions were not ideal for Friday’s Ballyshannon 5k as it rained throughout the race, although the large entry did not mind producing numerous top-class performances.

Gerard Gallagher of Finn Valley AC won the men’s race, in a time of 15:49, inching over the line ahead of Jamie McDonnell of Enniskillen RC on the same time. Third went to Shane Donnelly from Strive AC. Please click on the arrows to go through the gallery

Ciara Cunningham was the winner of the female race, with the Tír Chonaill AC member clocking 18:04. Elizabeth Maher of Galway City Harriers was next, followed by Majella McCartan of Carmen Runners in third.

Prior to presentations, Tíir Chonaill AC Secretary Shaun Kerrs congratulated and thanked all athletes for supporting the event, the club groups that laid out and marshalled the course, provided hospitality, the paramedics, the Gardai, Colaiste Colmcille for use of facilities, Herbie/Brendan McDaid and his company for results, photographer from the Donegal Democrat/Post and to O'Reilly Sports for generous race sponsorship.
