Ferry reclaimed the title he won last year, coming home in a time of 2:20:51, ahead of Peter O’Donnell, who was second in 2023, seven seconds behind. Third place went to John McFadden on 2:26:58.
They took part over the full WAAR route where they completed a 10km run, 42.5km cycle of the Wild Atlantic Way, 2km hike and 1km kayak on the Mullaghdearg Lake before crossing the finish line.
In a thrilling race, female WAARiors competed fiercely for the top spots. Local athlete Maria Ní Mhaolagain from Croithlí emerged victorious in the female section for the second consecutive year, finishing in an impressive time of 2:39:25.
Just five seconds behind her was Caroline McLoughlin from Achill Island, who celebrated her birthday while claiming second place in a time of 2:44:26. Geraldine Heery also secured a spot on the podium yet again, finishing in third place with a time of 2:59:59. Congratulations to all the female athletes who participated in the event.
The sprint event winners were Eoghan Moore and Noelle Parker, with AXIS IV taking the team title. Steve Gallagher won WARR Beag, with Paula Carolan taking the female race. The sprint course is made up of a 5k run, 33k bike and 1k kayak.
