Introducing the Donegal Sports Star Awards 1980 winners 40 years on one-by-one

The Donegal Sports Star Committee caught up on the 40-year anniversary presentations on Monday night in Letterkenny, having sat out two years during the pandemic, and re-introduced the 1980 and 1981 winners - these are the stories of the 1980 winners

Eamon Harvey (Best Sports Teacher)
The winner in 1980 was Eamon Harvey Donegal Vocational School (now the Abbey Vocational School). It was a year that the Donegal Town secondary school enjoyed a lot of success in a variety of sports and Eamon was central figure in a coaching capacity. Best known in the sport of athletics, he has been a key figure locally in Tirconaill AC and going on to coach at national and international level including with the Irish team at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Eamon Harvey was also involved with the Irish Para-Olympic team for 12 years.
