Introducing the Donegal Sports Star Awards 1980 winners 40 years on one-by-one

The Donegal Sports Star Committee caught up on the 40-year anniversary presentations on Monday night in Letterkenny, having sat out two years during the pandemic, and re-introduced the 1980 and 1981 winners - these are the stories of the 1980 winners

Eamon Harvey (Motorsport)
The 1980 winner was the late Eamon Harvey from Letterkenny. He saw off the challenge of the other two nominees James Cullen and the late Sammy Fisher. In 1980 Eamon had wins in the Donegal Motor Club’s Navigational Rally and was first in his class at the Donegal International Rally and Galway Stages. It was a busy year on the roads as he also had runners-up places at the Sligo Stages, the Harvest Rally and the Longford Stages. Eamon died in January 2004.
