West End star Lucie Jones delighted musical theatre fans with a Q&A event in the Abbey Arts Centre in Ballyshannon. The event took place on Saturday evening and was well attended in a venue that has played a major role in promoting all aspects of theatre and the arts in south Donegal. Photographer Philip Mulligan was on hand to capture the event in photographs. Click on the arrows to view the full gallery.
Lucie is a Welsh actress and singer who came to public attention after appearing on Season 6 of the X Factor in 2009 when she was just 18 years of age. She finished eighth in the competition, with her brave audition version of the Whitney Houston classic I Will Always Love You among her most memorable performances.
Judge Louis Walsh told her that she was born to sing, adding: "I predict that everything is going to change for you from today."
That was certainly the case. Lucie made it to the last eight of the competition, and went on to play in some of the most iconic West End musicals. She made her debut as Elphaba in Wicked at London's Apollo Victoria Theatre, and then reprised the role of Fantine in the West End production of Les Miserables last March.
