Iconic rally cars from across the eras lined up at the Quay Car Park in Donegal Town as part of Déja Vu North West ‘24.
There was a great atmosphere at the pier as motorsports fans of all ages came along to see the rally cars and classic cars on Saturday afternoon, April 27. Click on the arrows below for photos of the people and the cars at the pier in Donegal Town on Saturday.
World Rally Championship Becs Williams was among those present, having earlier made the journey from Sligo, taking in Lough Gill, Lough Melvin and Lough Eske.
She said: “There has been such a great atmosphere all day, with people cheering us along all along the way.”
Becs was represented with a Hanna Hats hat and scarf sponsored by Hanna Hats, and was WRC stalwart Plum Tyndall.
Jonathan Kennedy who was marshalling the Donegal Town stopover said: “In 2009, the late John Hanna donated hats to give to drivers when the WRC came to Donegal Town.
“Plum got one then, and he was delighted to get one again this time.”And it was something of a homecoming for one of the main event organisers Robert Lyttle who is a native of the Drumcliff area of Donegal Town.
Déja Vu is a nostalgic and celebratory gathering of classic rally and road cars which tour over a route which takes in some famous rally stages. This year’s 150 mile tour took place on April 26, 27 and 28, concluding on Sunday with an event at Sligo airport. The chosen benefactors of the 2024 event are the families of Gene McDonald and Dáire Maguire who tragically lost their lives in the Sligo Stages Rally last July.
