With 400 bikers hitting the roads, the locals once again came out in force to support the event by placing hundreds of teddies along the route to show their support and to wish them well. Sergeant Charlene Anderson was delighted to lead the motorcyclists on their journey.
This annual event is held in memory of Sandra Boyle who sadly passed away from leukaemia just before her 18th birthday in 1991. During her life, she touched many hearts and her parents Jim and Rosaleen honour her memory each year by hosting the event which continues to help sick children all over the country. The Children's Health Foundation Temple Street and the Mater Hospital Foundation will be the beneficiaries of this year's run.
“We wish to thank all those who took part in the motorcycle run for obeying the rules of the road and for ensuring safety along the route,” An Garda Siochana said. “Well done to all those who turned out to support the event and to all those who placed teddy bears along the route to show their support. Thank you to Siobhan Mc Gowan (Donegal Live) for the use of her fantastic photo below of little Jamie Gallagher in a full Garda uniform and on his bike. Well done to Jamie and to all involved in any way with this fantastic event!”
