For many of us, the Christmas holidays begin with a nativity play, that time of year when children learn lines, sing songs and don their shepherd costumes. On Thursday night, December 12, in Ballintra Community Centre, the pupils of St Ernan’s NS told the nativity story through the voice of six very strict inn-spectors who were taking a health and safety approach to the birth of Jesus in a stable in Bethlehem. There were shepherds, soldiers, inn-keepers, a singing star and even a talking donkey! The children delivered their lines perfectly and sang their hearts out and even managed some great dance moves.
The wonderful production won the hearts of a very appreciative audience and without doubt, Ballintra has some future stars of stage in its midst.
The interval was busy with fifth and sixth class pupils selling their Christmas crafts for a business enterprise project which was very well supported.
The second part of the show saw the children display some more of their many talents with Irish dancing, ukuleles and some rousing Christmas tunes performed.
A spokesperson said: “Thank you to everyone who joined us on the night. We appreciate your continued support of our school. Huge well done to all involved."
