Competing in the U-18 Teens category, Jane delivered an outstanding performance on the world stage, securing the coveted title and bringing a moment of immense pride to her school, community, and county.

Jane has been a student of Scoil Rince Tír Chonaill since the age of eight, growing from a beginner to a world-class dancer under the guidance of teachers Sarah and Ruth Gillespie.

Sarah Gillespie said: “Her journey to the top has been marked not only by talent, but by unwavering commitment, quiet leadership, and a deep love for Irish dance.

“She has become an integral part of the school, often described by her teachers as ‘a rock’ — always ready to help out, support younger dancers, or step into any role when needed.”

What makes her achievement all the more remarkable is that it comes at a time when she is also preparing for her Leaving Cert.

“Just days before flying out to Belgium, Jane completed her Irish oral exam, yet throughout this demanding period, she has not missed a single dance class,” said Sarah. “Her dedication has inspired all who know her and stands as a shining example of determination and resilience.”

Scoil Rince Tír Chonaill sent 16 dancers to the WIDA World Championships, returning with an incredible 12 Top 5 world placings — a proud achievement for the school and for Donegal. But it is Jane’s win that stands out as a defining moment, not just for the school, but for Irish dance in the county.

Sarah said: “The school’s teachers and wider dance family have always believed in Jane’s potential, and her victory is seen as a long-awaited and well-deserved result of years of hard work.

“Though she may soon be heading off to college, she will always be part of the Scoil Rince Tír Chonaill family — a dancer who has left an indelible mark and inspired those around her to reach for their own dreams.

“Jane Quinn’s world title is not just a personal triumph; it is a celebration of what can be achieved through passion, perseverance, and community spirit — and a moment Donegal will treasure for years to come.”
