Meanwhile, a total of 5,491 came for the One Day Retreats, marking a 23% rise with an influx of Parish Groups enriching the pilgrimage experience.

School retreats continued to flourish, including students from 62 schools who participated in Confirmation retreat days, and we welcomed international pilgrim groups from several countries, including the Netherlands, the United States, China, and Singapore.

Lough Derg continues to uphold its legacy as a sanctuary for the faithful seeking spiritual renewal.  The 'Pilgrim Passport' initiative has undoubtedly enhanced this year's pilgrimage season.

In collaboration with Knock Shrine and Croagh Patrick, this project encouraged pilgrims to undertake spiritual journeys across these revered sacred sites, reinforcing the collective sense of community and devotion during this holy year.  Here at Lough Derg, the loughshore Pilgrim Path remains open for pilgrimage all year round.

"We believe this season has underscored the timeless relevance of pilgrimage," stated Monsignor La Flynn, Prior of Lough Derg. "The increase in pilgrim numbers is a testament to the enduring spiritual hunger for peace, reflection, and a deep relationship with God.

“It seems that Pope Francis’s choice of the Pilgrims of Hope theme for Jubilee Year 2025 has evoked in many people a rediscovery of the profound benefits of pilgrimage."

The dedicated team at Lough Derg shares the joy of all who have answered the call, both first timers to the Sanctuary of St Patrick and returning pilgrims. We look forward to what the sacred tradition in our care still has to offer, and we invite one and all to discover for themselves the transformative power of pilgrimage and the healing encounter with God’s grâce that pilgrimage can offer.
