In Pictures: Fabulous weekend of music at Ballyshannon Rhythm and Blues Festival

The three-day event saw 50+ gigs across 12 venues in the Erneside town

The birthplace of blues guitar legend Rory Gallagher was the perfect setting for the annual Ballyshannon Rhythm and Blues Festival. Held in 12 venues over the three days from October 24 to 26, this festival ensured a vibrant and enjoyable three days in the Erneside town. Among the most popular gigs was local blues virtuoso Johnny Gallagher who, as always, captivated those gathered with a searing performance.

Others  to take part in this non-stop rhythm and blues extravaganza in pubs around the town were The Pat McManus Band, Seamie O’Dowd, Blackthorn Blues, Heavy Duty Band, Peter Price Blues, Happy Inc Blues, Gerry Quigley's Blues Jam, The Stingin' Kings, Bourbon Smoke Band, Stephen Brennan Blues,  Jack Austin Despy Band, Juke Joint Blues, The Rusty Jacks Band,  Lonesome Pete, Mr Castle Blues Band, Ciaran Hodgins Band, Buzzed Band, Coldshot Blues Band, Banshee Band, Mark Black Band.

The Rory Gallagher Theatre in the Abbey Arts Centre hosted Dr Feelgood, a band whose high energy rhythm and blues has continued to delight live audiences through a career spanning more than five decades. Support acts were The Savage Hearts and The Shlacks.

As well as close to 60 gigs, the festival hosted a Ballyshannon Blues Trail. And with camper van parking available, there was a fantastic festival atmosphere for music fans who came from near and far for this wonderful celebration of rhythm and blues.
