Cora, a pupil of Scoil Náisiúnta Cholmcille, Fintown, was named Princess of the Castle after her story The Secret of the Castle won the annual writing competition. Cora’s school friends and family joined her at Lough Castle on Sunday, November 30 for a party before she switched on the lights.
Tirconaill Youth Choir delighted those gathered for the event with a selection of Christmas carols. There was a disco in the ballroom with facepainting and refreshments. And Santa was more than happy to chat to hotel guests and all the children from the community who came with their families for this beautiful Christmas celebration.

There was a charitable side to the event too, with the launch of the Lough Eske Castle Annual Christmas Food Appeal run in conjunction with Kavanagh’s Supervalu

Those attending the switch-on were invited to bring one non-perishable food item. All food collected and money raised at the event will go to the St Vincent de Paul to help local families in need this Christmas.
