Local elections: Joy Beard says defective blocks issue is'humanitarian crisis'

Joy Beard is set to be elected to Donegal County Council in the Buncrana area on Sunday with fellow 100% Redress candidates Ali Farren and Tomas Sean Devine to join her

Joy Beard, one of the 100% Redress Party candidates set to be elected onto Donegal County Council, says the defective blocks issue is a 'humanitarian crisis'.

Beard polled 1,447 first preference votes - over the quota - and will be elected on Sunday.

Ali Farren - who will top the poll in the Carndonagh electoral area - and Tomas Sean Devine in Letterkenny are set join her after polling well in the tallies with other candidates from the party depending on transfers.

The party was set up last year in reaction to the defective concrete blocks crisis that is blighting thousands of homes across Donegal - and Beard says their Councillors will take a loud mandate and voice to Lifford.
