Watch: Abbey VS, Donegal Town Principal Alan Thompson on senior team's All-Ireland final

The AVS held a very successful Up For The Final on Wednesday night with past pupils and teachers as special guests. School Principal Alan Thompson thanked all and wished the team well in the final on Saturday

    This Saturday is a special day for the Abbey VS, Donegal Town when their senior football team take on Ashbourne CS in the All-Ireland final in Clones at 2 p.m. It will be a first for the school and the team under the management of Stuart McFadden and Jamie Brennan and including players from Four Masters, Naomh Brid and St Naul's were wished well at a special Up For The Final night in the school on Wednesday night.

    Past pupils Joyce McMullin, Barry Monaghan, Stephen Griffin, Peadar Mogan, Gavin Mulreany, Nicola and Kelly Lacey as well former teacher Michael Lafferty, former Offaly dual All-Ireland winner and All-Star Liam Currams and Maria Devenney were among the special guests with Charlie Collins as MC.

    Undoubtedly Maria Devenney and Barry Monaghan were the star turns on what was a very enjoyable night, with extra entertainment provided by school pupils, not least the highly talented Muireann Bradley.

    At the end of the night School Principal Alan Thompson thanked all for their attendance and wished the team well on Saturday.
