Watch: Derry primary school students release a single for Creeslough families

A group of students from Long Tower Primary School in Derry known as the 'Long Tower Ladybugs’ have recorded a single called 'We Are There' to raise money for the families of those affected by the Creeslough tragedy

Students from a primary school in Derry city have launched a single for Creeslough.

The Long Tower Ladybugs’ 'We Are There' aims to raise money for families affected by the Creeslough tragedy. The original song was first heard on the Eve Blair Show on BBC Radio Ulster last week. The Ladybugs - made up of Cherish, Mia, Kaci Elee, Anais, Aldara, Lilybeth and Roisin - are aiming to raise £1000 for the charity in the run up to Christmas.

“While the song hopes to raise money for charity, we hope the song can be shared anywhere and everywhere, to offer comfort to anyone who has an empty seat at the Christmas dinner table this year,” Long Tower Primary School vice-principal Ian Gallagher told DonegalLive. “Music is healing!

“We would like to offer our sincerest thanks to the Nerve Centre for allowing the girls to use the recording studio and to Mik O’Connell and Paul Sandy for all their help and support in the recording process.”

The Creeslough tragedy occurred on Friday, October 7, when an explosion at the local service station saw 10 people lose their lives.
