Weather expert Alan O'Reilly has indicated that the worst of Hurricane Nigel will likely miss Ireland later this week but that we may still feel some of the wind and rain.
Alan, who runs the Carlow Weather social media account, spoke to our reporter Siobhan Donohoe live from the Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska in Co Laois on Tuesday.
He warned that more rain is on the way after a wet and blustery day on the site today left some paths flooded and conditions very muddy.
He said 20mm of rain could fall between close of business today and tomorrow morning when another 100,000 people will descend on the site in Laois.
However, he said Wednesday may well be a brighter day for those on sight with sunny spells.
Alan also gave an update on Hurricane Nigel in the Atlantic and updated us on its track off the north west coast of Ireland.
