The Donegal 4x400m relay team of Michael Moore, Caolan McFadden, Brian Boyce and Joseph Aidoo
On Sunday last, Donegal County Athletics made history when they competed in the Inter-County Track and Field League in Tullamore.
Over the past few weeks, following a selection process, the team was entered and traveled with no expectations.
But on the day, each athlete performed really well and secured a second-place finish behind Galway to move forward to the Finals day on July 27th.
The team was made up of four athletes from Letterkenny AC, three from Cranford AC, two each from Killybegs AC, Rosses AC, and Lifford-Strabane AC, and one representative from Milford AC.
For many of the athletes, it was their first time to experience this competition, and it was to be a great day as the team supported each other with many staying on well after their events were completed to shout the team on.
The team started slowly but over the day, slowly crept up the table past Meath, Tipperary, Louth, Kerry, and Sligo, and pushed Galway all the way as it came down to the 4x400m relay to sort first and second team, with Galway gaining sufficient points to secure top spot.
