Ann-Marie McGlynn finishes as second Irish woman home at the Dublin Marathon

Ann-Marie McGlynn’s hopes of retaining her Irish Women’s crown at the Dublin Marathon were ended as she finished second in the Women’s National section.

The former Letterkenny AC runner, who now runs for Strabane AC, finished second in a time of 2:36.24, behind 19-year-old Ava Crean of Back 2 Boston Running Club, who won the Irish women’s title with a time of 2:34.11

Nicola Sheridan of Bohermeen AC was third in 2:39.55.

In the National men’s section, David McGlynn of Waterford AC won his first national Irish marathon championship title with a time of 2:10.59.

Ryan Creech (Leevale AC) took second place in the national championship race for the third time in 2:11.46. Paul O’Donnell (DSD AC) was third in the national race with a 2:12.11 clocking.

American runner Daniel Mesfin won the overall race in 2:08.51, while Ethiopian Eebbissee Addunya won the women’s race in 2:26.28.

More than 22,500 entrants, including elite athletes, club runners, wheelchair participants and charity fundraisers, have taken part in this year's Dublin Marathon.
