Conor Kelly competing in Slovakia in the U18 European Championships
Finn Valley AC athlete Conor Kelly has been named as one of the nominees for the RTÉ Sport Young Sportsperson of the Year.
The awards ceremony takes place this evening (Saturday) on RTÉ One at 8.05pm, with Joanne Cantwell, Darragh Maloney and David Gillick presenting the RTÉ Sport Awards 2025 in what is a celebration of the 2025 achievements of sportsmen and women in another successful year for the country.
The awards being handed out on the night in front of an audience of Irish sports stars include RTÉ Sport Sportsperson of the Year, RTÉ Sport Team of the Year, RTÉ Sport Manager of the Year, and the RTÉ Sport Young Sportsperson of the Year.
Kelly is nominated along with Alex Dunne (Formula 2), John Shortt (Swimming), Michael Noonan (Soccer), Patsy Joyce (Boxing), Róisín Ní Ríain (Swimming), and Sean Butterly (Canoeing).
The Finn Valley athlete stormed to gold in the 400m at the European Under-20 Championships in Finland, clocking a new national Under-20 record of 45.83 seconds.
He has recently begun an athletics scholarship at the University of Texas in Austin, and he also competed in the mixed 4x400 relay at both the World Athletics Championships and the World Relays.
