A star-studded evening of boxing is in store in Ballyliffin this Sunday when an Irish squad comprising many Donegal punchers faces an America team.

The Boston and Buffalo team is in Ireland in association with Bridges Beyond Boxing and are also having a tournament in Belfast in Thursday night.

On Sunday, 15 bouts are down for decision at the Ballyliffin Lodge Hotel.

Boxers from St Bridget’s Clonmany, Dunree, Carrigart, Twin Towns, Raphoe, Carndonagh, Derrveagh and Dunfanaghy are slated for action.

Doors open at 4pm with the first bell set to sound at 5pm and tickets are priced at €20.

St Bridget’s Conan Kearney, the Irish Boy 2 56kgs champion in 2021, is listed on the bill. Last year, he competed in tournaments in Cincinnati and Detroit as part of the Bridges Beyond Boxing programme.

He lost out to Michael Higgins Jr in Cincinnati on a split decision, but defeated Christian Geck in Detroit via a unanimous decision.

Established in 2016, Bridges Beyond Boxing is a cross-community boxing exchange programme.

Sunday’s show will also feature David Tennyson, the Derryveagh Boxing Club puncher who won gold at the Caledonia Box Cup in Grangemouth, Scotland recently.

At 63.5kgs, he overcame Jack Galbraith of Auchengeich BC - a Scottish U18 finalist - in the final having defeated Scottish Youth 2 champion Lee Johnstone in a semi-final.
