Donegal man punches his way to 25k donation to Crumlin Children’s Hospital

David Weir has his hand raised after his impressive win last Wednesday in Dubai.

A Donegal man stepping into the squared circle for the very first time not only had his hand raised but also immediately donated his €25,000 winners purse to Crumlin Children’s Hospital.

David Weir, now residing in Dubai, was part of the FightGecko Combat Series main event card that took place there on Wednesday.

And he backed up his pre-fight promise, as an early flurry completely overwhelmed his opponent, Azmodin Mohammdi, and an impressive first-round stoppage was secured.

Weir did, unfortunately, pick up a minor hand injury in the bout but says he will be back between the ropes real soon.

Weir’s Instagram profile @thediamondweir describes himself as a ‘Boxer and Multi Business Owner/Property Investor'.

And he says once he touches back down on Irish soil in time for Christmas, his first stop will be Crumlin Children’s Hospital.

The €25,000 cheque he hands over comes courtesy of all the pay-per-view subscriptions that used his name in the special code section to purchase the fight.

A post on his various social media channels read: “To everyone who travelled, shouted, screamed for me, tuned in messaged or called, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

“The best chapters and biggest nights are yet to come”.
