Ellis O’Donnell was crowned as an Irish champion on Saturday.

The rising Dungloe Boxing Club ace won the Junior 1 57kgs title at the National Stadium.

In all, three Donegal boxers took titles home, but O’Donnell was the sole winner in the ring at the weekend in finals.

Dominant O’Donnell defeated Bernadette Delaney from Tipperary Town in the final.

O’Donnell earned the verdict from all of the judges at ringside for a unanimous decision and her first national title.

The title is the 25th won in the history of the Dungloe Boxing Club and her club-mate Aleshia Mullis-Boyle - a three-time Irish champion last year - will be aiming to add to the number when she lines up in the Junior 2 66kgs final next weekend against Castlebar’s Grace Bailey.

O’Donnell booked her berth in the final when defeating Ellis Bell Carthy in her semi-final via a 4-1 split decision.

Twin Towns Boxing Club’s Roisin Hegarty, the European U15 gold medallist last year, is the Girl 4 66kgs champion.

The Letterkenny teenager landed the crown by way of a walkover having been the only boxer to weigh in for the category.

Hegarty was already a four-time Irish champ and the Loreto Secondary School student will look to get between the ropes for some competitive action in the coming weeks.

There was also a walkover win for Andrii Derkch of Letterkenny Boxing Club, who returns with the Junior 1 112kgs title.

Letterkenny lad Martin Ward, boxing for Oakleaf Boxing Club in Derry, lost out to Rylee Finn (St Nicholas) in the Junior 1 46kgs final.

St John Bosco’s Aleksei Bagdaneko lost out to Immaculata puncher Gearoid Monaghan in the Junior 1 final at 102kgs while Carndonagh BC’s Zackhar Kwashnin was beaten by Rocco Rogerson from St Kevin’s in the Junior 1 85kgs decider.

St Bridget’s Clonmany’s Patrick McDaid lost out to Thomas O’Reilly in the Boy 4 75kgs final on Friday night.

McDaid was stopped in the second round by the Portlaoise boxer.
