Bundoran business celebrates 10 years supporting local students and families

Emerald Education Centre in Bundoran celebrated its 10th anniversary of helping children and teenagers build confidence, overcome learning challenges and achieve success in their education
There were smiles, balloons, laughter and plenty of memories shared on Monday as Emerald Education Centre in Bundoran celebrated its 10th anniversary.
Founded by teacher and tutor Elaine Lingard in June 2016, Emerald Education has spent the last decade helping children and teenagers build confidence, overcome learning challenges and achieve success in their education.
Students, parents, past pupils and friends of the centre gathered throughout the afternoon to celebrate the milestone and reflect on the impact Emerald Education has had on the local community over the past 10 years.
A qualified teacher since 1993, Elaine established Emerald Education after recognising that many children needed a more personalised approach to learning than was often available in larger educational settings. Her vision was simple: to create a place where children felt comfortable asking questions, where learning was enjoyable, and where every student could be supported in a way that worked for them.
Over the past decade, hundreds of students have attended classes at the centre. Some came needing help with reading and spelling, others struggled with maths, while many exam students sought support with Junior Cycle, Leaving Certificate, GCSE, National 5 and other examinations.
Alongside tuition, Emerald Education has also provided educational assessments, dyslexia and dyscalculia screening, study skills programmes and a wide range of educational camps and workshops.
For Elaine, however, the greatest achievements have never been measured solely by grades.
"Of course it's wonderful to see students achieve great exam results, gain university places or improve their grades," she said. "But some of the moments that stay with you most are when a child who thought they couldn't do something suddenly realises they can. Seeing confidence grow is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do."
Many of the families attending the celebration have been part of the Emerald Education journey for several years. Some students who first attended as young children are now preparing for college or beginning new chapters in their lives.
Parents attending the event spoke warmly about the support, encouragement and confidence their children have gained through their time at the centre. Elaine paid tribute to the families who have supported the business over the last 10 years.
"Emerald Education wouldn't exist without the trust and support of local families. I feel incredibly privileged that parents have allowed me to be part of their children's educational journeys. This celebration is really about the students, the families and the community that have supported Emerald Education since the beginning."
As Emerald Education begins its second decade, Elaine remains committed to the same values that inspired her to open the centre ten years ago: helping students discover that they are capable of more than they think, finding ways to make learning accessible, and building confidence that extends far beyond the classroom.
The anniversary celebration served as both a reflection on a successful first decade and a reminder of the positive difference that personalised educational support can make in the lives of young people and their families.
Emerald Education Centre is based in West End, Bundoran and provides Maths, English, Science, French, Irish and study skills tuition, educational assessments and learning support for students aged five to 18, both in person and online.
