The countdown is on to one of the anticipated family events in Donegal Town, the switching on of the Christmas lights.
Donegal Town Community Chamber confirmed that the full Christmas Lights Display will take place this year thanks to the generosity of the Donegal Town business community. The switch-on event will take place on Thursday, December 4 from 6.30pm on the Diamond.
Mary McGettigan of Donegal Community Chamber said: “Get wrapped up well, come along and join us as the community prepares for the most magical time of the year with a special performance by Young Performers Academy Donegal.

“You will also get to meet Okey and Dokey, a two-person comedy interactive act on a stunning illuminated Rickshaw Bike.

“Of course, Santa and Mrs Claus and all their merry friends would love to see all the boys and girls of the area coming out to give them a great big Donegal welcome as they arrive on the Diamond.
“We don’t think they will be checking who is naughty or nice.”
The Directors of Donegal Town Community Chamber CLG would like to take this opportunity to thank contractors Ferm Eng Ltd James and all their hardworking team for the erection of this year’s Christmas Lights Display, as well as the elected members, Roads Engineer Mark Sweeney and Donegal County Council.
Mary added: “We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the local businesses for their very generous support for this year’s Christmas Lights Display.
“And finally, thanks to the Christmas Lights Committee and volunteers who give up their time to make this an evening to remember for families.”
