Falcarragh man in court over threats to kill father

The man appeared via videolink at Letterkenny District Court charged that he made a threat to kill or cause serious harm to his father

A Falcarragh man has appeared in court charged with making threats to kill or cause serious harm to his father.

Hugh McCready, 42, appeared by videolink at Letterkenny District Court.

He is charged that on February 2, 2024 at Ray, Falcarragh, made a threat to kill or cause serious harm to his father, John McCready.

The charge is Contrary to Section 5 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1977.

The court was told that the Director of Public Prosecutions had decided the case could be heard summarily before a Judge at the district court.

Solicitor for the accused, Mr Frank Dorian, explained the situation to his client.

Mr Dorrian told his client that they needed a meeting to decide how to deal with the matter.

The case was adjourned until February 26 to allow for disclosure.
