Gardai called after weapons brandished in alleged incident at Ballybofey supermarket

Gardai were called to the store, but those involved – some of whom were said to have been branding weaponry – were gone when officers arrived, a Garda spokesperson has said

A Garda probe is underway after an alleged incident involving some people armed with implements at a supermarket in Ballybofey on Tuesday evening.

The incident is said to have occurred at around 9pm.

Gardai were called to the store, but those involved – some of whom were said to have been branding weaponry – were gone when officers arrived.

“Gardaí responded to a report of an alleged public order incident at a commercial premises on Donegal Road, Ballybofey, Co. Donegal that occurred at approximately 9pm on Tuesday, 7 May 2024,” a Garda spokesperson told Donegal Live.

“All parties involved had dispersed from the scene on arrival of Gardaí.”

The spokesperson said that enquiries are “ongoing into all of the circumstances surrounding this incident”.
