The driver was caught travelling at 170km/h

A driver was arrested and charged to appear in court after being clocked at 170km/h in Donegal.

The motorist was detected by the Buncrana Roads Policing Unit on Sunday night in the Muff area.

The driver in question was clocked at 170km/h on a road governed by a 100km/h speed limit.

The person was arrested and a court appearance will follow, gardai have said.

A spokesperson said: “We are trying to make the roads safer for everyone. Please play your part and slow down. Speed can and does kill.”
