A motorcycle was seized by gardai in Donegal on Sunday
Gardai seized a motorbike on Sunday in Barnesmore Gap.
Officers from the Roads Policing Unit in Donegal Town were conducting speed checks when they observed a motorcycle, which had a pillion passenger, overtaking at speed.
The motorcycle was seized under Section 109(a) of the Road Traffic Act 1961. Under this legislation, in order to get your vehicle back, you must apply to the Judge of the District Court.
A fixed charge penalty notice will issue also.
Gardai detected another motorcyclist travelling in excess of the legal speed limit and overtaking on a continuous white line.
A fixed charge penalty notice will be issued to this motorist.,
Both of the motorcycles came to a stop as soon as the drivers realised that Gardaí had activated the lights/sirens but they did not do so immediately.
A Garda spokesperson said: “As the driver of any type of vehicle you should always remain alert and be aware of your surroundings/noise/road ahead and behind by regularly checking your mirrors.
