Garda probe launched after several men involved in violent incident in Lifford

A cross-border manhunt is underway following a violent incident in Lifford on Wednesday night.

Several men were involved in the incident, which occurred outside a business premises in the border town at around 9.15pm.

Video footage of the incident has been widely shared across social media platforms.

Some of those involved are seen to be wielding weapons, including an iron bar. 

One man is seen to strike another with a bar while a man is also struck by a vehicle in another part of the footage.

It is understood that An Garda Síochána have been liaising with their colleagues in the PSNI following the incident.

When officers responded to a call, the men had fled the scene. 

A Garda spokesperson told Donegal Live: “Gardaí received a report of a public order incident on the Letterkenny Road, Lifford, Co. Donegal on Wednesday 12th November 2025 at approximately 9:15pm.

“Gardaí attended the scene, the persons involved in the incident were not present.”

The spokesperson added that: “Investigations are ongoing.”
