Gardaí in Donegal ask residents to take precautions and report suspicious activity

An Garda Síochána has urged Donegal residents to take precautionary measures to prevent home and business burglaries.

As darker evenings return, Gardaí highlight the importance of ensuring properties are properly secured, both when occupants are at home and when they are away.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána says: “Do not keep large amounts of cash in your house. If you have valuables, such as jewellery, that you must keep in your home, please ensure that you have a good quality safe affixed to a wall to store them in.

“Always report any type of suspicious activity in your neighbourhood to Gardaí straight away. Try to include descriptions of vehicles, people, direction of travel, etc., if at all possible.”

The Divisional Crime Prevention Officer, Sergeant Fergus McGroary, is available to advise in relation to security measures for homes and businesses. He may be contacted at Letterkenny Garda Station on 074-9167100.
