Donegal’s first Dr McKenna Cup triumph saw them defeat Cavan at Breffni Park in September 1963.
Donal Breslin netted an early goal for Donegal ayer John Hannigan opened the scoring with a free from almost 60 metres. The goal was crucial as Donegal led by four, 1-4 to 0-3, at half-time.
Mick Griffin sent a second half free from distance straight to the Cavan net and Cavan never looked threatening thereafter,
