The final weekend of the Donegal All-County Leagues takes place this weekend with most of the games on Saturday evening.
There are important final positions on the various league tables up for grabs although some decisions have already been made.
In the Brian McCormick Sports All County Division 1, Termon, who were promoted in the third place last season, have secured their place in the final, a massive achievement after being promoted.
The second final spot for the Democrat Cup will be decided on Saturday evening with Four Masters in pole position. All they need is a draw away to Gaoth Dobhair to secure their place, which would also be a huge achievement as the Donegal Town club were promoted as well last year, albeit as Division 2 champions.
Even if they lose in Gaoth Dobhair, they may still be in the final. The other game which affects the top of the table is the meeting of old rivals Naomh Conaill and St Eunan’s in Davy Brennan Park, Glenties. If St Eunan’s were to win and Four Masters lose then the Letterkenny club would be level with points with Four Masters and by virtue of the head-to-head win St Eunan’s would make the final.
The bottom of Division 1 has a number of clubs still hanging by a thread. Inishowen pair Malin and Buncrana are in a perilous position, two points adrift. They need to win against St Michael’s and MacCumhaill’s respectively and then hope that Kilcar are beaten at home by Na Dúnaibh. Looking at it objectively it is hard to see Malin and Buncrana escape while Kilcar will escape if they beat Na Dúnaibh, who would have the play-off place.
The top of the Marley Travel Division 2 became a little clearer last weekend, thanks to Ryan Connors’ late two pointer for Dungloe against Ardara. The win propelled Dungloe into the Division 2 final and automatic promotion.
The other Division 2 finalists will be a battle between Aodh Ruadh and Naomh Muire, Lower Rosses. They are locked together in the table and play St Mary’s, Convoy and Naomh Columba respectively. As expected, if both teams win their final game, there will be a big decision for the Donegal Competitions Control Committee (CCC) as these sides also drew their league game in The Banks. Aodh Ruadh have a much superior score difference but St Naul’s didn’t field for their league game with the Ballyshannon club. Even though Aodh Ruadh didn’t gain any advantage in the score difference, it is another of those anomalies that rears its head in the GAA world from time to time.

At the bottom of Division 2, St Naul’s lost out to Gaeil Fhánada on Sunday and joined St Mary’s, Convoy in Division 2 next season. There is still a battle for the third from bottom place which will be involved in a play-off battle. The big game here involved Cloughaneely and Gaeil Fhánada on Saturday evening in Falcarragh.
In the Yes Chef Division 3, there are no outstanding decisions with Red Hughs and Burt in the Divisional final while Naomh Brid will play the third from bottom in Division 2 in the promotion/relegation play-off.
