The captains and officials before game in Pettigo
Pettigo 0-14
Naomh Padraig, Lifford 0-5
Pettigo got their first win in the Junior A championship with a comprehensive victory over Naomh Padraig, Lifford on Sunday.
The home side led 0-8 to 0-2 at the break although the six point margin did not take into account a couple of goal chances and some bad wides that Naomh Padraig had.
The evergreen Johnny McManus opened their account on four minutes but Naomh Padraig’s Oran Gillen was denied a goal by Adam McBarron a minute later.
Paul and Shaun Robinson pushed Pettigo three clear before Brian Breslin from play and a free cut the lead to the minimum on 15 minutes.
Eoghan McGoldrick and Ollie McCaughey (free) added good Pettigo points before McBarron made another great save to deny Brian Breslin on 21 minutes.
John Carrigeen, Eoghan McGoldrick and Shaun Robinson (free) stretched the Pettigo lead to six at the break. Naomh Padraig lost corner-back Jack Mahon to injury just before the break.
The home side were able to keep Naomh Padraig at arm’s length in the second half as they added points from Johnny McManus, Sean Maher and two each from Shaun Robinson and John Carrigeen.
Naomh Padraig kept plugging away with Brian Breslin again the main threat. He added a couple of points and also hit the crossbar with Kevin McBrearty getting their other score.
