Michael Langan says St Michael’s are moving well in the SFC but knows that things need to ramp up as they go away to Naomh Conaill on Sunday.

Langan was in fine form for the Dunfanaghy/Creeslough outfit as they seen off derby rivals Termon a fortnight ago in a 0-14 to 1-7 win.

St Michael’s got their second win of the championship in what was a strong performance, as they led for over 70 minutes against Termon at the Bridge.

First half scores where Daniel McLaughlin, Carlos O’Reilly and Michael McGinley all got two points each, helped them into a 0-7 to 0-5 lead, with Daire McDaid and a two-pointer from Jack Alcorn making up the Termon scorers.

But the visitors didn’t register a score in the second half until the 60th minute and it was too little, too late when Kevin McGettigan’s goal went in, although it left three in it and set up a tense ending.

And while Langan said it was important to nail another pair of points to the board after their previous win over Glenfin on the road, there are elements of Michael’s game that will simply need to be tidied up ahead of their trip to Glenties.

“We felt solid enough against Termon but it’s a local derby and when you win at home you have to be happy with that but we have plenty to improve upon next day out.

“We dropped a few short, had a lot of wides so there is real scope to pick things up again.  We were happy enough with how things went defensively but we left scores behind us up the other end and that could have cost us.

“We talked about that after and it’s something we’ll look to work on now ahead of the next day. We gave away a sloppy goal too and that left it tighter than it needed to be.

“Like I said, we were really solid at the back. To a man, they were fabulous all game”.

St Michael’s went all the way to the last four last year but fell to Dungloe in Ballybofey. Pressed on

what they can achieve this time out, Langan said you  can’t afford to even look that far at this delicate stage of matters

“We haven’t set a target, we just look for a performance and it really is game by game. We’re away from home next day out and we’ll look to cover those exact same bases there.
