Dan McCauley was in charge of Naomh Padraig for six season
Naomh Padraig GAA club have confirmed the departure of manager Dan McCauley.
In six years in charge, the 2024 season will stand out for the people of Ture, when Naomh Padraig won the Donegal Junior A Football Championship before taking home the Ulster crown.
Naomh Padraig became only the second Donegal side ever - after St Michael’s in the 2003/04 IFC - to reach an All-Ireland club final, where they were edged out on a 0-9 to 0-8 scoreline by An Cheathrú Rua from Galway in January.
“This evening we say a massive thank you to our Senior Gaelic Football Manager, Dan McCauley, who has officially stepped down after an incredible journey with our team over the last six years and many before that at underage,” Naomh Padraig posted.

“From leading us to a Junior County title, to conquering Ulster and guiding us all the way to an unforgettable All-Ireland Final in Croke Park, your leadership, passion, and commitment have been nothing short of inspirational. Your devotion and vision transformed our team and the memories you helped create will last a lifetime.
“Your dedication to the players, the club and the game has left a lasting impression - not just in silverware, but in the spirit and belief you instilled in our club as a whole as well as our Senior team. You have inspired a generation of players and helped nurture a sense of community, faith and desire within us all.
“A mention also has to go to Dan’s backroom team - your hard work, time and commitment have been pivotal to everything our Seniors have achieved. From the countless hours of preparation, the strategic insights, to the attention given to every player, your contributions have been invaluable.
Finally, to Dan’s family - Aine, Jamie, Hannah-Mary, Annie and Harper - thank you for your patience, your support and the countless sacrifices you made behind the scenes. This journey was yours as well and we are truly grateful.
“On behalf of everyone involved in the club, Dan, thank you for everything. You didn’t just lead a team - you led a parish, a club and a community to history. The final whistle may have blown on this chapter, but your legacy will echo through every pitch, every jersey, and every young player who dares to dream. Wishing you all the very best.”
