North London Shamrocks celebrate after winning their second London SFC title

North London Shamrocks retained their London SFC crown with plenty of help from Donegal men in their 3-7 to 0-13 win over Tír Chonaill Gaels in Ruislip.

Naomh Colmcille man Daniel Clarke hit a goal and Joe McGill of St Mary’s Convoy got three points, while Michael Carroll of Gaoth Dobhair and Moville’s Ciaran Diver both hit a point in McGovern Park.

St Eunan’s duo Ronan McGeehin and Michael Miller both started, while Convoy’s Paddy Dolan and captain and Termon man Nathan McElwaine both came off the bench in the win, as Michael O’Reilly starred for the Shamrocks by hitting 2-1

John McDyre (Na Rossa), Oran Hilley (Naomh Colmcille), Conor McGonigle and Oran Blaney (both Gaeil Fhánada) are all part of the squad, managed by St Michael’s man Peter Witherow, whose backroom team includes Ciaran Greene and Stevie Collins of St Eunan’s and Killybegs man Brian Conaghan.

In the Tír Chonaill Gaels side, managed by Tommy Ryan of Termon, Glenswilly’s Shaun Wogan hit a point, while Ryan McCready (Na Rossa) and David O’Donnell (Burt) started for the side.

Michael Greene (Naomh Muire) was named in the panel, while Liam Gallagher and Aidan McGarvey have strong connections to Dunfanaghy and Falcarragh.

It’s just a second title for Witherow’s side, who also led the team to victory last year, while Tír Chonaill Gaels are the most successful side in London, winning 18 titles.

The London club will now take on the winner of the Mayo Senior Football Championship final between Westport and Ballina in the Connacht championship.

In the Junior B final, the North London Shamrocks took on Fulham Irish, but they suffered defeat in that game by 0-12 to 1-7.

Greene, Michael Boyle (Termon), Owen Scally (Dungloe), Pauric Gillen (Moville) and Matthew McGovern (St Eunan’s) were all part of the squad for the Shamrocks.

St Naul’s man Gary Kane started in midfield for the Gaels, while JP O’Donnell from Dungloe was part of the squad.

In the Intermediate final, Tara defeated St Brendan’s by 2-14 to 1-7, with Sean MacCumhaills man Noel Quinn, and St Mary’s, Convoy pair Kevin Bonner and Paul Bonner on the St Brendan’s side.
