She first joined the Donegal LGFA Executive in 1994, serving through to 2004 and again between 2019 and 2021.
Over those years, Ann took on a wide range of roles including vice chairperson, secretary, assistant secretary, Oifigeach na Gaeilge, treasurer, PRO, Ulster delegate and Central Council delegate.
At home in Pairc Taoighoige, Ann was an active member of the Club Executive for over 16 years. She started out as Oifigeach na Gaeilge before becoming club secretary in 2000, a position she held for 16 years.
During that time, she oversaw the redevelopment of Páirc Taobhoige, celebrated the men’s Intermediate Championship doubles in Donegal and Ulster in 2001, and was there for the club’s first Senior Ladies County Championship title in 2011.
Even after stepping down as secretary in 2016, Ann continued to help out as assistant secretary, supporting a smooth handover to new secretary Jackie O’Meara.
Announcing the news on their social media, Donegal LGFA said they were “delighted to recognise Ann’s huge contribution over the years” and congratulated her on the well-deserved honour.
Ann will officially be presented with her award at the Donegal LGFA awards night, which takes place on Friday, November 28 in Jackson’s Hotel, Ballybofey.
