Shea Boyle gave Termon a derby win over Glenswilly at the Burn Road with the last kick of the game in the Under-21 A Championship.

The hosts were set back by a Glenswilly goal on three minutes, but they hit six points to go two ahead by the quarter of an hour mark.

The Páirc Naomh Columba men responded with the next five scores, but a Ciaran Cassidy goal and a strong end to the half had Termon 1-10 to 1-6 ahead at the break.

Again, Glenswilly came back with the next five scores, Shane Tinney’s free on 37 minutes putting them ahead before 20 minutes without a score.

Two Oisin Harkin frees had the hosts back in front but Eoghan Scott and Gary Kelly had the visitors one up with an hour played.

But Cassidy and Boyle stepped up when it mattered to seal a narrow derby win between the only two teams that still had a 100% record.

After some early Termon possession, Glenswilly countered, and after a brilliant run from Mark Bonner, he found Eoghan Scot,t who poked the ball over Termon ‘keeper Thomas Cannon and while a defender got back to stop it going in momentarily, Oisin McGrenra made sure of it from a yard out.

But the hosts had a more impressive opening quarter and the impressive Ciaran Cassidy got their first point after a couple of attempts went wide.

Oisin Harkin played a long ball looking for Patrick Fegan that went out, but Kealan Curran’s kick out only found Shea Boyle who quickly pointed from outside the arc.

Termon won the next two kick outs and Oran Gallagher and Rory McGrenra pointed, while Daithi Gildea got Glenswilly’s first point on 15 minutes.

Shea Boyle put his side two clear, but Glenswilly had a purple patch after this with five points in as many minutes.

Two Shane Tinney frees, the second brought forward, along with an Eoghan Scott score, put them back ahead.

And they would win the next two Termon kick outs, with Tinney and Reid Kelly putting a goal between the sides.

Cormac Gallagher got a much needed Termon score and that settled them again, with a neat move from back to front, seeing the ball come to Ciaran Cassidy who burst forward, cutting inside and leathering the ball into the far corner of the net.

Shea Boyle finished off a fine move with a point and as Termon picked up possession after the kick out, Oran Gallagher fired over.

And just before half time, Cassidy again showed his quality with a neat dummy before kicking over to make it 1-10 to 1-6 at the break.

But that advantage lasted less than three minutes after the restart, Gildea’s free and two quick-fire points from Scott before a Tinney score levelling the game.

Tinney’s free put the visitors ahead on 37 minutes, but there wouldn’t be another score for 20 minutes as a bit of wasteful play from both sides saw a tense finale.

Oisin Harkin kicked over a free to level the game, and when Ciaran Cassidy was pulled down, Harkin did the same again, this time outside the arc, but Kealan Curran got a touch on it to only count for one.

Eoghan Scott levelled the game on the hour mark, and he set up substitute Gary Kelly to put Neil Gallagher’s men a point up.

But again, the combination of Harkin and Cassidy, the former finding the latter, who burst forward and fired over a brilliant point to level the game.

There was time for one last attack however, and it fell for the hosts, Shea Boyle getting possession down the right, and he cut in and curled over with what would be the last kick of the game.
