ATU Donegal lifted the Higher Education Division 2 league trophy on Wednesday night after a brilliant comeback against SETU Carlow.

Playing in Ballymacnab, Co Armagh, the Donegal students emerged 0-20 to 2-12 winners in a game that swung dramatically after half-time.

ATU looked in trouble at the interval, nine points adrift at 2-9 to 0-9, but they completely upped the tempo on the restart.

That second-half surge, which yielded 11 points while restricting Carlow to just three, turned the contest on its head.

Standout showings from Max Campbell, Paddy McElwee, Shane Callaghan, Oisín Caulfield, Ciarán O’Kane and Cormac Gallagher helped drive that turnaround, with Maxi Curran’s side finishing the stronger outfit by some distance.

The victory sets ATU Donegal up nicely as they prepare for the start of the Trench Cup campaign which begins in early 2026.
