Seven things to consider as Donegal look to book NFL Division 1 final spot

Donegal could be back in Croke Park at the end of the month in a NFL Division 1 final

2 Despite the hype, Donegal have just one point more right now than same period in 2025

After five games Donegal are just one point better off than they were 12 months ago but it seems all so different. In 2025 Donegal were joint top of the table after five games with eight points - wins against Kerry, Dublin, Armagh and Derry with the only defeat away to Galway. Roll the clock on 12 months and Donegal are still top of the table after five games, this time with nine points, winning their first four and drawing with Galway last time out.  It just feels so much different because it was obvious last year that Donegal didn't want a league final as it would have come just two weeks before their opening Ulster championship game with Derry. That was a factor in Donegal losing out to Tyrone in O'Donnell Park and Mayo in Castlebar in their final two games. This year the scenario is much more conducive to reaching the league decider as there will still be four weeks before the Ulster championship game with Down. Just shows what better scheduling can lead to.
