Donegal could be back in Croke Park at the end of the month in a NFL Division 1 final
4 Jason McGee’s impact is allowing Michael Langan to be an even better baller
We were tempted, for the umptenth time this term, to once again state the obvious and explain just how important a fit and freely moving Jason McGee is to Donegal. But instead, it’s perhaps interesting to look at the impact he’s having on Michael Langan’s game.
Lagan is an All-Star midfielder but with McGee, as well as Hugh McFadden and Caolan McGonagle, offering some real insulation around the middle, the St Michael’s man is being allowed to show all the elegance, grace and finesse he’s been gifted with. He’s still in-and-around the periphery of the middle but there is just a little more freedom attached to his role right now. A natural half-forward, he’s stepping into that pocket much sooner and much more frequently as some booming two-pointers have helped him accumulate 0-16 to far in the NFL. He’s coming in for particular attention as well as other sides view him as a serious threat nearing the arc. That was at the root of his uncharacteristic reaction last time out in Ballshannon as he was black-carded.
