Declan Bonner managed Donegal's senior footballers since 2018
The wheel has come full circle for the umpteenth time at Na Rossa GAA club with Declan Bonner taking the reins as manager again for 2023.
The 1992 All-Ireland winner stepped down from his role as Donegal senior team manager last year, and he was hoping to take a year out. But he has decided to throw his lot in with his club once more. And given that he is still chairman of the club, it shows the commitment that he prepared to give.
Na Rossa lost out in the semi-final of the Donegal JFC last year to eventual winners, Letterkenny Gaels, 0-12 to 0-10. Two late points by the Letterkenny side decided the outcome in Davy Brennan Park in Glenties. Na Rossa were beaten by Naomh Muire in the promotion play-off in Division 3 of the All-County Football League
Bonner has been involved with county teams for the last decade, starting at U-16 level, then minor, winning the Ulster Minor championship in 2-14 and Ulster Minor League the year afterwards.
Donegal then won an Ulster U-21 title in 2017 with the county before winning two senior Ulster titles - in 2018 and 2019 - and reached four Ulster finals in his five years in the senior role.
