Facile win for Termon as they prove much too strong for Maigh Cuilinn in Gaeltacht final

With Geraldine McLaughlin on fire, Termon bridged a gap back to 2015 as they lifted the Gaeltacht senior ladies title with some comfort at a glorious sunny Banks in Mullaghderg.

When Laura Corcoran put Maigh Cuilinn ahead after just 25 seconds with an impressive run, we thought we might have a contest, but thereafter this was one-way traffic with the Galway side unable to curtail the Pocket Rocket, Geraldine McLaughlin.

There was just a major gulf between the sides after that opening point with Termon just owning the ball and the final scoreline doesn’t even flatter them.

McLaughlin fired over the equaliser inside two minutes and by the seventh minute, Termon were 2-3 to 0-1 ahead, the goals coming from Roisin Yankee Friel and Ciara McGarvey with McLaughlin involved in everything.

Shannon Keady had a Maigh Cuilinn free before the trend returned with McLaughlin hitting three goals. By the time Maigh Cuilinn got their only other point of the half, Termon were 7-7 to 0-2 ahead.

Rosisin McCafferty chipped in with three points and Roisin Friel had two as the Donegal champions led by 7-9 to 0-3 at the break.

There was no let up in  the second half although Termon did ease off on the goals, only adding one from Emer Gallagher on 40 minutes and two more late on from Roisin McCafferty and Ciara McGarvey.

Maigh Cuilinn did get a consolation goal from Ellen Nic Bhain on 47 minutes but there was a real gulf between the sides.
