McFadden goals help Killybegs to second win of the league season

Hugh McFadden - two goals for Killybegs on Sunday

Hugh McFadden, Conor Cunningham and  Ryan Cunninham scored the goals as Killybegs pulled off a big win against Downings, on Sunday afternoon, in Pairc Na Dunaibh.

Downings  0-17  Killybegs  4-8

McFadden scored two of the goals, both from the penalty spot.  One came at the end of the first half and the other in the closing minutes of what was an absorbing contest.

McFadden and Eoghan Bán Gallagher, who both played against Tyrone the evening before, lined out from the start for the Fishermen.

Killybegs were also boosted by the return of Jack McSharry, also a member of the Donegal squad.  Johnny McGroddy was also back from the county for Downings.

Killybegs, chasing only their second win of the campaign, took the game to the locals from the off and raced into an early 1-5 to 0-1 lead by the end of the first quarter.

And they were 3-7 to 0-7 to the good at half-time after Downings produced a strong finish to the half with points from Johnny McGroddy, Oisin Boyce, Lorcan Connor and Paddy McElwee.

Downings began the second half brightly and posted six points without reply in the opening ten minutes from Connor, McGroddy and Oisin Boyce to cut the Killybegs lead to three points, 3-7 to 0-13.

And the margin was down to one in the closing minutes before McFadden again converted from the spot for goal number four and a three point win.
