Rory Kavanagh admitted the better team had won following his St Eunan’s side’s defeat to Naomh Conaill in the Donegal SFC semi-final.

Martin Regan’s team did what they do and did it very well to triumph on a scoreline of 0-11 to 0-9 and set up a final against Gaoth Dobhair in two weeks' time.

St Eunan’s scored the opening two points of the contest but were 0-6 to 0-4 down at the break and despite having more of the ball weren’t as economical as their opponents, who managed to stay ahead in the second half. Naomh Conaill kicked just one wide all day, with St Eunan’s posting 11, although few very from easy positions.

“We have no complaints,” Kavanagh said after. “On the balance of things, they were the ones in control for most of the game. We had a good start, going two up and they replied very quickly, and they had us under the cosh then for maybe a 15-minute spell. We had a lot of the ball but were hit on the counter-attack three times.

"Once Naomh Conaill get a lead there’s no better team. Second half the boys didn’t give up and tried to the very end but we had three very big wides there near the end. We knew at half-time that opportunities would come and they did come, but we weren’t clinical enough. Look, we can’t complain over the result and good luck to them in the final.”
